National Pancake Day
Apparently today is National Pancake Day just one week after Fat Tuesday. Now I am the one who is generally skeptical of “National Days†in general but when it comes to those that exist to show an appreciation for food i am all over it.
Not to be outdone by a bunch of Englishmen who celebrated Shrove Tuesday just last week, IHOP restaurants across the United States are giving away a free short stack to guests who consider making a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network or other local charities. More info here.
And before I get berated I want to remind you that it is still Freedom from Convenience Food Month, so you can make your own damn pancakes and if you follow Michael’s tried and true Gone Frugal Pancake recipe, they will be better than you’d get if you went out!

I have been clipping and using coupons lately. Made some good savings so far. But when it comes to pancake mix I have a problem. Too many of them have ingredence other than what is needed to make a pancake. So even if it is a great savings I prefer to use my own home made pancake mix. I make it and keep it in the frige with directions on it. Remove a cup of mix, egg and milk. I only have to make it once a month and we enjoy them when we wish.
